Developing Individual Potential

A dynamic day service for adults with a learning disability

Dayspace provides quality, person-centred day services for adults with a learning disability in Surrey and Southeast London, through three locations: Reigate, Penge, and Warlingham. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual needs and personalities of our customers, who gain opportunities to develop new skills, socialise, and feel supported in a positive and encouraging environment.

Dayspace is a family-run business that was founded in 2011 by Chris Millsted, a former Director of Nursing for the NHS and a pioneer of community care and innovative services for people with a learning disability. Now overseen by Chris’s daughters, Hannah (CEO) and Rachel (COO), our vision remains the same; to transform day services for adults with a learning disability, developing their individual potential.

What do people say about us?

We are incredibly grateful to all our customers for their support! Here is just a snapshot of some of the comments we have received.

“Dayspace show time and compassion for each individual. It is obvious that this is a place not simply just a day centre with many activities and friendship for the individual; it is a meeting place where disadvantaged people are made to feel important and worthy with the benefit of self achievement…”

“I love coming to Dayspace for my music session and seeing my friends”

“Transitioning from Education into Adult Social Care, I was hugely impressed with the way the staff at Dayspace actively listened to my daughter’s likes, dislikes and fears, as well as taking on board her interests and talents. Not only that, it was obvious to me that they wanted to make her transition, as smooth and as comfortable as possible.

My daughter now enters Dayspace on her own and with a new level of confidence. The support, dedication and commitment from the team of professional staff has made this progression possible, and it is obvious to me, that she gets a tremendous amount of pleasure and freedom to express herself throughout her activities.”

My name is Louise and I live with my husband. I have been coming to dayspace learning to cook for over a year. I have made friends and met old friends from school. Dayspace has helped me to learn skills for healthy food. The staff have helped me to stick to my eating plan and loose some more weight.

As a carer and parent of a young person with a disability, I have found the service Dayspace offer to be excellent. It is not ‘daycare’, but a learning environment which is meaningful and fun. I have supported a young man with a learning/physical disability with additional behaviour requirements and a young lady with autism and both have been met by kind, enthusiastic staff who not only support them, but also myself in my role as a carer.
