As a listener, podcasts have the power to teach, inspire and entertain. As a creator, podcasts have much greater potential. So, when we were thinking about starting the Dayspace Podcast, as with all our services, we wanted our customers to be central in all steps of the process. This includes the planning, producing, recording and all stages in-between. Finishing these stages (we hoped) would encourage creativity, communication, development of new skills and build confidence for our customers. (We should also mention, we hoped there might be a laugh or two along the way…)

With these benefits in mind, we got to work!

Our teams and customers have been working collaboratively to produce a weekly podcast, covering both topics chosen by our customers and topics that align with national holidays or events. Our customers have been learning a range of things including how to set up and run recording equipment and interview guests.

Since starting the podcast, we found it to be an incredible endeavour. We have got to know our customers better than ever before, and they have got to know us better too. We are all learning about things we had never heard of and had discussions we never thought we would have. We have had fun, supported each other, laughed and grown as individuals and a team. Not forgetting that planning and recording the podcast has also been a great opportunity to catch up with our customers every week

We are grateful that we can offer this as a service to the learning disability community as a part of our Digispace sessions and will be continuing to run our podcast with our customers, providing a platform for discussion in an E-safe environment.

If you would like to listen to the discussions we are sharing, you can find them here: www.anchor.com/dayspace (or you can find it wherever you usually get your podcasts).
